Golden Sands (known locally as Zlatni Pyasatsi) is one of the two largest resorts on the Black Sea coast. It takes its name from the vast stretch of beautiful, clean, golden sand. According to a legend, Pirates buried their gold in the ground at the seaside resort and the land took its revenge by turning the treasure into sand. Golden Sands is a very lively and cosmopolitan resort that offers extensive entertainment facilities for all ages. The resort is situated in the Golden Sands National Park, 18 kilometres from the city of Varna, in the northern part of the Bulgarian Black Sea Riviera. There are frequent bus services between the resort and the sea capital, Varna. Varna airport is only a short drive away. Golden Sands offers breathtaking scenery, superb and picturesque beaches, clean sea, sun and mineral springs. The beach strip is 3.5 kilometres long and up to 100 metres wide. Summers are not too hot thanks to the mild sea breeze. The average air temperature in July and August is 27 degrees and water temperature is 24 degrees. There are numerous restaurants serving Bulgarian national dishes, as well as European cuisine and exotic food - Chinese, Indian, German, English, Greek and Arab cuisine is available. There are 22 outdoor and one indoor mineral water swimming pools, 28 tennis courts, volleyball and basketball playing fields, a bowling alley and a horse riding ground, as well as plenty of possibilities for water sports, including an aquapark. |
