With its combination of cobbled streets and traditional alpine-style houses, it truly is a delight to the eye. Over the last few years, Bansko has been the subject of a major scheme of development and improvement. It is now the country's leading ski resort. Bansko is a real alternative to the Alpine resorts; this charming little town will impress any skier who appreciates well-groomed slopes with modern infrastructure, set in breathtakingly beautiful surroundings. Bansko offers excellent skiing conditions. The Pirin Mountains have a predominantly Alpine character with two peaks towering to over 2900 metres.
